Cross-Country Skiing

In the wintertime, the wide, sunny valley floor is extremely well-suited for cross-country skiing. There are a total of more than 40 km of slopes.
The cross-country paths wind through the dream-like winter wonderland, crossing snow-covered fields, passing through romantic forests, and along picturesque farmhouses and country inns.
Far from overfilled ski centers, you can ski through the landscape and enjoy the natural beauty of the region.

You can begin your cross-country skiing adventure right behind the Hotel Magdalenahof. There you will find a track of 2,5 km and a track of 4 km and the connection to the 42km of pists of the Valley of Gsies.
We offer the whole equipment for children and adults for free. Our skiing instructor Michael will help you with the first steps on the skis – it’s winter fun in the Gsieser Valley / Valle di Casies.

A Cross-Country Event for Everyone

From the 18th February to the 19th February 2012, the 29th International Gsieser Valley South Tyrolean Race will be held in the Gsieser Valley. Approx. 2,500 cross-country skiers of both sexes from 30 nations are expected to participate in this large-scale event. Besides world-class athletes, hobby sportsmen from all of Europe, Japan, China, as well as America and Australia will be there. The Gsieser Valley Race is the second-largest winter mass event in Italy and the largest in South Tyrol.
Viewed nationally, the Gsieser Valley Race is part of the GRAN FONDO MASTER TOUR, the union of the 11 largest races in Italy, which is intended primarily for amateurs.
