The Black Lake
One of the most spectacular tours starts right at our Hotel Magdalenahof, located at the head of the Gsieser Valley. This is a more challenging, yet absolutely breathtaking hike. Along the way, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the Defereggen Mountains and the Dolomites – simply stunning!!
From the Hotel Magdalenahof, follow the trail signs toward the Almweg 2000 and the Uwald Alm. The route then leads over the Hinterschartl pass to the beautiful Black lake.
If you’re looking to extend the tour with a summit climb, you can continue on to the Riepenspitze or the Hochkreuzspitze at 2,739 meters. From the top, you’ll be rewarded with awe-inspiring views of the High Tauern, the Dolomites, the Rieserferner mountains, and the Zillertal Alps.
On the way back, three alpine huts invite you to take a break and enjoy some local refreshments: the Oberbergalm, the Kradorfer Alm, and the Messnerhütte, before returning to the comfort of Hotel Magdalenahof.
