Bread is one of the most important and popular foods. Homemade bread tastes particularly good and is often healthier than shop-bought bread. This is because you know exactly what ingredients are in it and can leave out anything that is not good for you if you have allergies or intolerances.

Ingredients:

  • 100 g pumpkin seeds
  • 100 g sunflower seeds
  • 50 g pine nuts (optional)
  • 1 cube of yeast (approx. 42 g)
  • 500 ml lukewarm water
  • 500 g wholemeal spelt flour
  • 10 g salt
  • 2 tbsp vinegar

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 200 degrees (fan oven: 180 degrees).
  • Grease a loaf tin (30 cm long) well.
  • Mix the sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and pine nuts together and sprinkle a handful of seeds into the greased tin.
  • Crumble the cube of yeast into 500 ml of lukewarm water and stir well with a whisk until the cube has dissolved.
  • Mix the spelt flour with the seed mixture.
  • Then add the yeast mixture.
  • Add the salt and vinegar and knead everything together for at least 5 minutes.
  • Pour the dough into the loaf tin and sprinkle with the remaining seeds.
  • Bake the bread directly in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes without letting it rise.
