Legende:

⟷ total walking time and distance | ↥ elevation gain | ☆ difficulty

Tscharnietalm and Forcella di Calce (2.349 m)

⟷ 2,5hours/6,6 km | ↥ 889m | ☆☆ Moderate tour

From the hotel, follow the signpost for trail no. 47 to the start of the toboggan run. At the junction, keep right, cross the wooden bridge and follow trail no. 48 towards the Malga Tscharniet. The path crosses the stream and climbs gently uphill across meadows, passing rustic mountain huts. Keep to the left and follow the terrain as it gradually gains altitude. Soon, above the tree line, the view opens to the east – and the Forcella di Calce appears on the horizon.

Hoher Mann (2.593 m)

⟷ ca. 3hours/4,9 km | ↥ ca. 1.117 m | ☆ Easy, varied tour

From the ski lift, first walk up the piste before turning onto the forest track marked no. 10, which leads you through the woods. After a short footbridge over the Rio Kaser, continue straight ahead – leaving the turnoff to the Malga Ascht behind you. Continuing into the terrain, cross another stream, then ascend through a clearing to the scattered huts of the Pfinnalmen. A short stop is always worthwhile here: the distinctive notch between Hoher Mann and Kleiner Hoher Mann can be seen and admired. The slopes are pleasant to walk, only just below the notch does the terrain become a little more challenging. In the rockier section sure-footedness is required – but the summit rewards with a fantastic panoramic view. The descent follows the ascent route – caution: the forest track near the Aschtalm is also used as a sledding run.

Ski tour to Rotlahner (2.748 m)

⟷ ca. 3,5hours/11,4 km | ↥ ca. 1.300 m | ☆☆ Moderate tour

This ski tour is ideal for those who enjoy a relaxed pace: consistently gentle slopes, stunning views – and the start is right at the hotel. First, you walk leisurely to the toboggan run in the Koflertal. From there, you reach the Kofler Alm quickly, before a slightly steeper climb through the forest to the Kasermähderalm. The ascent continues over open slopes to Heimwaldjöchl. If snow conditions are good, a final detour to the summit is really worth the effort: about 100 vertical metres lead over a broad ridge to a large cairn marking the highest point. The descent follows the ascent route – only the steep section below the Kasermähderalm may be a little more challenging depending on snow conditions. In the Koflertal, you then have the choice: a relaxed return via the toboggan run or a more sporty route through the narrow snow tracks in the forest.

Through the snow & over the ice:

tobogganing, horse-drawn sleigh rides & ice skating

Sometimes it doesn’t take much for a fantastic winter day. There are experiences that are simply timeless. In the Val di Casies, numerous well-prepared toboggan runs await both young and old: they lead to rustic alpine huts such as the Stumpfalm, Uwaldalm, Messner- or Kradorferhütte – all easily accessible from the Magdalenahof. Alone, as a couple, or with the family – the way down the valley has rarely been more beautiful. 4  Tip: rent a sled directly at the hotel and start straight away.
For a more relaxed experience: a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the Val di Casies is the essence of winter romance – bookable at +39 338 2399576 (60 min / € 70, max. nine people).
Prefer to get your skates on? The nearest ice rink is in the St. Martin sports zone, with skate hire available.
