Swiss Pine Wood at Magdalenahof

At our hotel, we consciously embrace the power of nature – and this is particularly evident in the design of our Swiss pine dining rooms and garden suites, furnished with genuine Swiss pine wood. This special wood comes from the Swiss pine a resilient alpine tree that grows at altitudes of up to 2,600 metres and withstands temperatures as low as –30 °C.

But what makes Swiss pine so unique – and why do so many guests feel instantly at ease in our Swiss pine rooms?

1.The Scent of Relaxation: Pinosylvin

The secret lies in the essential oil pinosylvin, naturally found in Swiss pine wood. It is known to:

  • have a calming effect on the nervous system,
  • act as an antibacterial agent, and
  • protect against mould – making it especially popular for kitchen use.
  • In our rooms, this natural fragrance helps create a pleasant and healthy indoor climate – without any artificial additives.

2. Better Sleep with Swiss Pine

According to a well-known study by the Joanneum Research Institute in Graz (2003), sleeping in a Swiss pine bed can reduce your heart rate during the night – on average by around 3,500 beats per day.

This means: more rest, better recovery, and naturally deeper sleep.

    3. Sustainability You Can Feel

Swiss pine wood is not only beautiful and beneficial – it is also sustainable:

    • It comes from certified alpine forests
    • It is durable and resource-efficient
    • And it fits seamlessly into our concept of nature-oriented hospitality

    Conclusion: Nature That Feels Good

Swiss pine is much more than a decorative element – it’s a natural wellness booster that creates a noticeably calming and soothing atmosphere in our rooms.

Experience the power of nature to yourself – during a stay in our Swiss pine rooms at Magdalenahof
